The typical Greek salad is prepared with raw vegetables and may include celery, onions, peppers and cucumbers. Oregano, salt and pepper may be added to the salad as a seasoning together with a dressing of olive oil and lemon juice. The salad will have black olives and a soft salty cheese named feta. Lemon juice and olive oil is often added to salads and then seasoned with salt and pepper.

Lentil and pea soups are extremely popular in Greece and are often served with the main course. Bread is usually dipped in the soup and salad is utilized as a side dish. A form of chicken soup known as avgolemono is extremely popular too and is often laced with lemon and served.

Lamb is cooked in many ways. The Greek have a special way of cooking lamb that makes it very tasty. To make a Greek shish kebab pieces of lamb are marinated in olive oil, wine and lemon juice. Salt and pepper and a bit of oregano are added. The lamb is then placed on skewers and grilled. While cooking olive oil is rubbed over the meat.

Moussaka is another popular dish in Greece and is made using an interesting mixture of grounded lamb and eggplant after which it is seasoned with cinnamon, oregano and tomato. Cheese and white sauce are added and then the complete mix is baked in oven.
